2014-15

In 2014, the band participated in the annual Roots & Heritage, Homecoming and Lexington Christmas Parades.  The Marching Band presented a Classic Rock themed halftime show including Boston's Foreplay, Journey's Don't Stop Believin' and Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven.  The Band Association Hosted 3 Marching contests on back to back weekends starting with The Bluegrass Pageant of Bands followed by KMEA 5A East Quarterfinals and KMEA 1A Semifinals.  The following weekend they hosted a Cheers, Inc. contest in the gym.  Both bands combined due to instrumentation issues resulting from the new modular class schedule for a joint concert with the Bryan Station MS Bands.

Noela Botaka (Mallets), Eli Francis (Jazz Bass), Monica Jensen (Clarinet) and Ashlin Meuser (Trumpet) were selected to the All-District Band.  For the 5th time in 7 years, the All-District performance was snowed out.  It was not rescheduled.

The Jazz Band hosted its 2nd annual Jazz Dinner Dance at Oleika Temple.  Dinner was catered by Bourbon 'N Toulouse and the evening featured silent auctions and an opening performance by the Bryan Station Middle School Jazz Band.  The Jazz Combo performed at Natasha's Bistro in celebration of March being Music In Our Schools Month.  The Jazz Band was also featured on ABC's Good Morning Kentucky.

After being snowed out in February, KMEA Solo & Ensemble assessment was rescheduled in April.  Many students were unable to accommodate the new dates. The following were awarded:

Distinguished Solo: Nicholas Waun (Tuba)

Distinguished Ensembles: Joe'l Griffin, Luis Batres & Paige Shields (Sax Trio), Jordan Dunaway, Malkeithia Dansby & Dylan Tellman (Flute Trio)

The combined Concert and Symphonic Bands traveled to Scott Co. HS and participated in KMEA District 7 Band Assessment.  They performed Peacemaker by Karl King, An Irish Farewell by Larry Daehn and Kronos by Robert W. Smith.  They earned a Distinguished rating in Grade 3 and a 1+ in sight reading.

The Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Combo performed at the KMEA State Jazz Assessment.  The Combo performed Blue Bossa by Kenny Dorham, Serenade To A Cuckoo by Roland Kirk and Two Meat, Too Cheese by Shaun Owens.  They received a Distinguished rating.  The Jazz Ensemble performed Stormy Weather by Harold Arlen and Splanky by Neal Hefti.  They received a Distinguished rating.
