2004-05

In June of 2004, the band moved everything out of the band room up to the Akers Theatre in the main building.  This proved to be an upgrade as the old band room would regularly flood as it was below grade.  The Theatre seated 295 (except when raining, when the leaky roof dropped that number to 269).  The HVAC system created a 100+ decibel hum (Bb, 4 cents flat) that became difficult to tolerate.  The room served both as rehearsal space and concert hall.

The Marching band performed Medusa, a show of original music from composer Key Poulan.  The placed 1st in the Mason, OH Mid-States Band Association contest.  The band also made finals at KMEA Contests in Harrison Co. and Scott HS.  Ariel Elias was selected as the 1st chair Baritone Saxophone in the KMEA District Honor Band.  The Percussion Ensemble was awarded a distinguished rating at the Solo & Ensemble Festival.
