2011 - The Year of Buccaneer

The Marching Defenders are very excited about their 2011 Fall marching show announced at the annual Band Awards Banquet.  Buccaneer is a story of brothers separated at sea.  The opener is based on the Russian Folk song Yablochko while the remained of the show features the haunting melodies and grooves from El Gatotriste by Chuck Mangione.

In addition to the Roots and Heritage (9/10) and Fire Prevention (10/3) parades as well as home football games, the Marching Defenders will perform at Bands of America Regionals at EKU (9/24), Blue and Gold Championships at Morehead State University (10/1), 21st annual Bluegrass Pageant of Bands (10/8) and Kentucky Music Educators Association Quarterfinals (10/22) at Bryan Station.  The season will conclude with at trip to Chattanooga, TN to perform in the United States Scholastic Band Association Southern Championships (11/5).
